A Day in the Life…

5:50 am – Alarm clock #1 goes off – hit snooze!
6:00 – Alarm clock #1 goes off again – hit snooze!
6:05 – Alarm clock #2 goes off – hit snooze but tell myself to GET UP!
6:10 – Alarm clock #1 and 2 go off again – ok, now I really need to get up!

(Sometimes this goes until 6:30!)
I sit up, eyes blurry and body still half asleep, and stumble into the bathroom. Brush my teeth, take my shower. At 6:15 the girls’ alarm goes off. Get out of the shower; usually hear their alarm still going off. Don’t ask me how they sleep through 15 minutes of ear piercing beeping.

Quickly dry and make my way to their room. Flip on the lights, turn off the alarm, pull off their covers and tell them to get up. Bump my way down the hall into the dining room, let the dog(s) out in the backyard. Back to the girls’ room to pull the covers off (again) and tell them to get up (again).

Back to my room to get dressed, do my hair & make up. Girls are up and showering. Then dressing, brushing hair and teeth. Except Taylor, whose hair I have to do. Dog(s) get fed. Then comes the reminders: Do you have your homework? Do you have your snack? Are your shoes & socks on? Where’s your coat? These are mixed with “Hurry up!” and “You’ve got 2 minutes!” and “Ok… we’re going to leave then.” (This morning add in putting make up on Bailie for her Halloween costume party and dressing Taylor for her field trip in the rain.)

We finally make it out the door, usually, hopefully, around 7 am. Drive to the fairgrounds. Throw Allie some hay, fill up the water buckets, take off her blanket.

(This morning add in going to the bank to get $ for Taylor’s last minute field trip and stopping at the gas station.)

Drive to Amity, take Bailie to school. Back to McMinnville to drop Taylor off. At last, drive to the hospital for work… there by 8 am.

Work all day. Off at 5. Every evening is different but this will be today:

Leave work 15 minutes early, quickly pick up Taylor and get back to the soccer fields. Stand in the cold rain for over an hour watching Bailie play soccer while trying to keep Taylor out of trouble. Game is over around 6:20. Girls will go home with their dad. I will go home to feed the dog(s). Drive to the fairgrounds to feed Allie. Turn her out to stretch her legs, clean her stall, put her blanket on. Back home to find something for myself to eat.

Girls dropped off at 7:30. Get clothes ready for the next day. Go over homework and finish up anything that wasn’t done at Dad’s. Sometimes throw in a shower. Pajamas on, teeth brushed. In bed around 8 pm.

Do a load or two of laundry. Try to pick up around the house, do dishes, etc. Feed cat. Figure out what needs to be done for the next morning or evening activities.

FINALLY! Some ME time. Catch up on my DVR’d shows, facebook, blog, email. Maybe read a book. All this and try to be in bed before 10? And then… we do it all again tomorrow.

I wonder why I’m so tired?
